When it comes to your baby, you want products that are safe, natural, and effective. I am a mom of two girls and I am definitely one of those people that research EVERYTHING. I go to EWG and look up the product and the specific ingredients. I truly have never found a baby line that has cleaner ingredients than doTERRA baby wash and diaper rash cream. I LOVE them!
With no parabens, phthalates, propylene glycol, artificial colors, petrolatum, mineral oil, or talc, you can have peace of mind that the products in the doTERRA Baby collection are natural and safe to use on your little one.
You don’t need to fret that you’re compromising on effectiveness either. doTERRA Hair & Body Wash is clinically tested to be tear free, and doTERRA Baby Baby Diaper Rash Cream is clinically tested and approved for sensitive skin leaving you with no tears and no fears.
Reusable Baby Wipes
I personally chose to use cloth diapers and make my own baby wipes (saved us SO much money between both girls). The baby wipes are so easy and cost effective. All you need are some terry clothes or whatever style wipe you want to use (I just went on Amazon and bought some for cheap), Dr. Bronners Baby Castille Soap, doTERRA Lavender and Teatree essential oil and a wipe warmer (bought a $10 one from Target).
Get a large pitcher, put 1 tablespoon of baby Castille soap, 2 drops Lavender and 2 drops Teatree. Then fill the rest up with water. Place your terry clothes in the warmer and pour some of the mixture right onto the wipes. Just enough water to get them wet all the way through, you don't want them soaking wet. Then just replenish as you need more! To wash them we throw them right in the wash with the cloth diapers. Wahlah! That large jar of Castille Soap has lasted me over 5 YEARS!! I haven't had to buy another bottle between two children. And with doTERRA's Lavender and Teatree oil, because they are so potent and you only need 2 drops, they make over 150 batches of this solution. Enough to last a life time!
The most common oils I use on babies
I cannot even begin to express my gratitude for having doTERRA oils while my girls were babies (and now toddlers). I don't even know how parents survive without them! We have used them for literally everything that has popped up; ear discomfort, skin irritations, immune boosting when they are under the whether, cough suppressant, colic, cradle cap, upset tummy/diarrhea/constipation, cuts and scrapes, sleep support, tantrums-you name it!
I love having these natural tools right at my fingertips so I can support my babies naturally when things pop up. How empowering!
Here are some of my most used oils for my girls:
doTERRA Kids Blends Collection
These were formulated specifically for developing minds, bodies, and emotions, these essential oil blends feature unique combinations therapeutically balanced to provide powerful benefits while being gentle on delicate skin.
The kids collection has truly covered almost everything we have needed. And you can use them on yourself also-win win! The kit contains these 7 blends great for kids and babies:
- Thinker (Focus Blend)- With a fresh, invigorating aroma, it was designed with ingredients that may help with performing tasks and perfect as a part of your study-time routine
- Calmer (Calming Blend)-this is the calming essential oil blend, which promotes restful sleep and a soothing environment.
- Stronger (Protective Blend)- I use them one everyday before my oldest goes to school. You can use this for protection when you are not feeling your best. It promotes feelings of wellness and vitality, is comforting to occasional skin irritations and soothing to the emotions during times of distress
- Tamer (Digestive Blend)-Take this one on a road trip to ease the effects of motion sickness. If there are any digestive issues with your litte, just roll it right onto their abdomen
- Rescuer (Soothing Blend)- After running, jumping, and playing, rub Rescuer onto their legs, feet, or back to soothe their active body.
- Steady (Grounding Blend)- For daily centering, or for times when they feel nervous or anxious, rub Steady on their neck and wrists to calm and comfort emotions.
- Brave (Courage Blend)-Before new or different situations, or just to start the day, roll Brave onto the back of neck, tummy, or bottoms of feet for an atmosphere of courage and confidence.
If you would rather make your own blends or get even more uses out of the essential oils, I definitely recommend starting your oil journey with what we consider "The Top Ten" oils. You can use these safely on the whole family. I love the top ten most used oils because I like to diffuse them in bedrooms to help with sleep and make my own concoctions!
Top Ten Oils
The "top ten" are:
Lavender- I use Lavender for all things calming. Its calming to the mind and to the skin. So if your baby/kids come up with scrapes, cuts, burns (including sun burn), bug bites, diaper rash, pretty much anything that is an irritant to the skin.
Teatree- This is a great antifungal. We use this in conjunction a lot with Lavender. Great for stings, rashes, bug bites, diaper rash, ear infections, fungal infections, sore throats, pimples, etc
Frankincense- This is our go to oil for EVERYTHING. Its a must have in your oil toolbox. Calming, immune boosting, great for skin issues, supporting our cellular function, mind and body.
Lemon- Wonderful detoxifier and cleanser. For kids we use it as an all natural "goo-be-gone". Its great for removing sticker residue, gum in the hair, stains, cleaning anything sticky, etc
Peppermint- Peppermint helps cool the body temperature down. Fevers, hot flashes, etc. Its a non toxic bug repellent (great for ants, spiders, and mice), upset tummys, muscle aches.
Onguard- This is an amazing immune booster. For kids or babies in school/daycare, use this oil to help keep them healthy all year long! We also use it for cleaning everything in our home.
Digestzen- Upset stomach, constipation, diarrhea, bloated, heartburn, colic-anything relating to digestive issues.
Breathe- Our respiratory blend helps open airways. Stuffy noses, sinuses, snoring, congested-this one is great to diffuse throughout the night to help keep those nasal passages clear!
Oregano- A really powerful oil that full of anti-oxidants to help with our immune system. We cook with this one a lot (hello marinara sauce!). Oregano is considered a hot oil and always remember to dilute it with a carrier oil when using topically so avoid skin sensitivity.
Deep Blue- Aches pains, growing pains, sore muscles or joints-this blend in wonderful to help those sore muscles and joints!
*Bottom line is these oils are an amazing, safe , effective alternative to a lot of our modern medicines you may be accustom to. When using on children, babies or anyone with sensitive skin just remember to dilute them and your good to go!
